Celebrating Yuka: The Heart of Our Bookkeeping Team

A special tribute to Yuka, our Lead BAS Agent and Senior Bookkeeper, who helped build QiBalance from day one.

Celebrating Yuka: The Heart of Our Bookkeeping Team

When I think about the story of QiBalance Bookkeeping, there’s one person whose journey is woven through so many of our early years: Yuka.

Yuka is an Accountant and was the very first bookkeeper I ever employed. At a time when I was still finding my feet as a business owner—unsure how to employ people, wondering how to structure roles, and trying to juggle everything—Yuka quietly became one of the foundation stones of the business.

Supporting Me Through the Start-Up Years

In those early days, there wasn’t a big team, polished systems, or the comfort of certainty. What I did have was a small but committed group of people, and Yuka was right there beside me.

She helped carry the workload through the challenging start-up phase, when every client, every process, and every decision felt huge. When COVID arrived and created even more pressure and uncertainty, Yuka stayed with the business, helping to steady the ship as we navigated rapidly changing rules, cashflow worries, and client stress.

Her calm, consistent presence made a real difference—not just in the numbers, but in the confidence I had that we could keep going.

Exploring Other Paths – and Coming Home

After several years with QiBalance Bookkeeping, Yuka needed to take some time out. She had personal and family priorities to attend to, and like many people in our profession, she was also curious about what it might be like to work inside more traditional accounting firms.

She spent time working with two different accounting firms, gaining new experiences and perspectives. But over dinner one evening, she shared something that meant the world to me: those roles had made her realise just how much she valued what we had built together at QiBalance Bookkeeping.

The culture, the teamwork, the genuine care for one another, and the way we approach clients as people—not just numbers—stood out in contrast. That conversation led to one of the happiest decisions I’ve made in my business: welcoming Yuka back to the team.

A talented Lead BAS Agent and meticulous Senior Bookkeeper

On her return, Yuka stepped into the role that truly aligns with her strengths: Lead BAS Agent and Senior Bookkeeper.

What makes her exceptional is not just her qualifications, but the way she uses them:

She is very thorough, always ensuring the Balance Sheet is fully reconciled before any compliance work is finalised. There are no shortcuts—accuracy and integrity come first.

She has excellent time management skills, especially when it comes to ATO compliance. Yuka doesn’t aim to simply “meet the deadline”; she makes sure things are completed with time to spare, giving both our team and our clients breathing room and peace of mind.

Her natural sense of structure, timing, and follow-through helps keep our compliance work flowing smoothly, which is critical for a business like ours.

An Invaluable Member of Our Team

Having Yuka back on the team feels both grounding and energising. She brings:

Deep technical expertise as an Accountant and BAS Agent

A strong commitment to accuracy and compliance

A thoughtful, reliable, and caring presence in our team culture

She doesn’t just “do the bookkeeping”; she helps uphold the standards and values that define QiBalance Bookkeeping.

Yuka is, quite simply, an invaluable team member, and we are so happy—and grateful—to have her back on the journey with us.
